Meher Baba Today

Meher Baba was silent for 44 years, yet in His Silence He filled the hearts of those who had come to know and love Him. It was His love that awakened in them their love for Him; a simple, direct and natural response. But Meher Baba passed in 1969, so how does His love flow to us today? It was through the "Work" that He did while He was physically in the world that He seeded His love, and those seeds are slowly germinating within our hearts today. We are the fortunate beneficiaries of His incredible lifetime of pure and total Selfless Service, which is slowly, silently transforming the world we live in, awakening hearts to a life of oneness in diversity.

"I have come to sow the seed of love in your hearts, so that in spite of all superficial diversity which your life in illusion must experience and endure, the feeling of oneness through love is brought about amongst all the nations, creeds, sects, and castes of the world"  ~ Meher Baba

There is no Meher Baba religion, instead He said "I have not come to establish any cult, society or organization, nor even to establish a new religion. The religion I shall give teaches the Knowledge of the One behind the many. The book that I shall make people read is the book of the heart that holds the key to the mystery of life. I shall bring about a happy blending of the head and the heart. I shall revitalize all religions and cults like beads on one string"

So there's no church to join, no dues to be pay, not priest to give out instructions or guidance *. Instead those who have come to recognise Meher Baba depend on their own very personal inner connection with Him to guide them and feed them with the sweetness and inspiration of His Eternal Presence, which is continuously available for one and all.

"I have come not to teach

but to awaken"

There are large and small Baba groups scattered throughout the world on every continent (less Antartica). There are five key centres that were visited and blessed by Meher Baba and continue to be focal points for His remembrance; they are Meherabad and Meherazad in India, Meher Spiritual Center in the USA, and Avatar's Abode and Meher House in Australia. Each has its own unique atmosphere, but each shares one universal feature: His Presence. "Baba people" (as they are commonly called) gather at these centres or make pilgrimages or retreats to them as they feel compelled. These experiences can be pivotal in deepening their inner connection with their Beloved Meher Baba. Meher Baba was very natural and even playful, and He enjoyed and preferred a light and free atmosphere around Him with those whom He called "His Lovers". This remains a fundamental component of the experience of Meher Baba.

After all it was He who said...

"Don't Worry,

    Be Happy!"

*An exception is Sufism Reorientated USA; while fully embracing Meher Baba, they maintain their tradition of a Sufi Murshid (guide).

Five International Centres Dedicated to Avatar Meher Baba:

Meherabad.jpg

Meherabad was the location of much of Baba's early activities; free clinics, ashrams for masts, free schools for children of all castes etc. Today it is the site of the Avatar's tomb-shrine and worldwide pilgrimage.

Meherazad.jpg

The residence of Meher Baba and His close disciples since the late 1940s, has a sublime atmosphere! The site of His washing the feet of hundreds of lepers, and where He did what He called His "critical" Universal Seclusion Work.

MeherCenter.jpg

Founded under Meher Baba's specific instructions in the late 1940s, He called it "His home in the West", He visited it three times in the 1950s. It remains a retreat for "spiritual renewal",

you can stay in cabins, mingle or be secluded.

Meher House Sydney AU.jpg

Located in Sydney and named by Meher Baba as one of His Places, He blessed it with His Presence on both visits to Australia.
He said "Let Meher House be a beacon to all striving to reach Me.”

For His second visit Meher Baba favoured QLD. In June of 1958 He blessed Australia with His Sahavas (sharing company). Baba's Room remains the heart of "His Abode". Pilgrims can book cabins for extended stays.
